you've not got an extra dollar bill or two in your wallet, because one thing Garnett doesn't like to go into "his" jar is an excuse!  He's often asked me whether or not I was in distress, and perhaps in need of some charity from the lodge when I've opened up my wallet and only a few moths were forthcoming!  Garnett is one of those rare Masons who makes it to every single communication, so there's no chance of getting out of a visit from him and his "Mason's Jar."  Needless to say, the nightly Mason's Jar tally isn't very much, but over the course of a year, it makes a respectable sum of money, all to help the Old Mason's Homes.  What a great example Garnett sets for our younger Masons,  and what a great lesson in just how much a little can do.
Every year, Berea Lodge #617 presents the Grand Lodge Of Kentucky with a few hundred dollars to go towards maintaining the Masonic Homes.  This money comes from our operative as well as speculative "Mason's Jar" as carried about the Lodge before each meeting by fifty year member and voluntary almoner, Garnett Short.  Everyone pony's up a little dough, and may heaven help you if
